I've read a couple of Christopher Brookmyre's earlier novels and found them to be great crime thrillers - tightly plotted with lots of twists and turns. For me Black Widow brings something new to the genre by really getting inside the heads of the three main protagonists: a top female surgeon, a disgraced investigative reporter and a female cop. The voice of Diana Jager, the female surgeon suspected of murdering her husband, is particularly enthralling.
Overall a great, suspenseful read with more twists and turns than a corkscrew!
